Dukaan laysoff 90 percent of its staff after introducing AI chatbot

Recently, the startup company Dukaan laid off 90% of its employees after introducing AI chatbot. It is the effect of layoff 2023. Summit Shah is Dukaan's founder and CEO, he shared a tweet about how the introduction of the AI chatbot developed the query resolution time. According to him, the query resolution went down to 3 minutes 12 seconds from 2 hours and 13 minutes due to the AI chatbot which is too supportive for the growth of his company.

The job market has started showing the involvement of AI leading to its sudden growth but ultimately making people lose their jobs. Dukaan is a DIY platform that allows all merchants with zero programming experience to set up their own e-commerce store leading to people loose of their jobs.

According to him in this age of instant gratification, launching a business is not a distant dream but with the right idea, the right team can turn the entrepreneurial dream into reality. He has opened the opportunity for all those dreamers, doers, and disruptors out there with extraordinary talent.

He also mentioned about the hiring process of his company. He told me about hiring is on for multiple roles at Dukaan. He welcomes all those who are passionate about AI, e-commerce, and product design and are happily ready to be part of the team. He cleared that his intention was not to replace humans with AI instead the company aims to leverage AI in order to optimize its operations, especially in the customer service area. According to him, it’ll be more efficient to use the expertise of employees in dedicated areas and by side assigning the task to the AI chatbot. It not only saves time but also helps in reducing costs making the allocation of human sources efficient.

What he personally felt was that human customer support executives were mostly overqualified and their work was repetitive with no excitement making it all fussy.

Though Dukaan is not the only company replacing the human workforce with AI to increase efficiency. IN May 2023 US announced 3900 jobs cut due to AI. In recent times the layoff of human employment and AI replacement has got itself on the trending news. Utilizing human skills for a better job is obviously going to gain some merit but every time new technology is introduced to enhance efficiency. In the future also one may end up seeing everything in AI.
